             abstract = "O objetivo deste trabalho {\'e} analisar e simular com um modelo 
                         regional um evento de chuva forte ocorrido entre os dias 25 e 
                         26/12/2011 em cidades do litoral paulista e fluminense. Em algumas 
                         localidades o volume de chuva ultrapassou 100 mm, sendo que na 
                         cidade de Ubatuba-SP o acumulado de chuva em 24 horas foi de 222,8 
                         mm. Foram feitas simula{\c{c}}{\~o}es com o modelo regional ETA 
                         com resolu{\c{c}}{\~o}es de 15 e 5 km, com intuito de verificar 
                         a habilidade do modelo em casos extremos de chuva na Serra do Mar. 
                         As chuvas foram ocasionadas basicamente pela presen{\c{c}}a da 
                         Zona de Converg{\^e}ncia do Atl{\^a}ntico Sul, ventos de sudeste 
                         persistentes e o escoamento difluente em altitude, associados 
                         {\`a} orografia da regi{\~a}o. Para este evento, tanto o modelo 
                         regional ETA com resolu{\c{c}}{\~a}o horizontal de 15 km 
                         simularam bem a precipita{\c{c}}{\~a}o e o padr{\~a}o 
                         sin{\'o}tico. ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study is to analyze 
                         and simulate event of heavy rain occurred between days 25 e 
                         26/12/2011 in the coastal cities of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. 
                         In some places the rainfall exceeded 100 mm, and the city of 
                         Ubatuba-SP the accumulated rainfall in 24 hours was 222.8 mm. 
                         Simulations were made with the ETA model at resolutions of 15 and 
                         5 km, in order to verify the ability of the model in cases of 
                         extreme precipitation in the Serra do Mar. The rains were caused 
                         primarily by the presence of the SACZ, persistent winds from the 
                         southeast and the divergence in high levels associated with the 
                         topography of the region. For this event both the resolution of 15 
                         km and 5 km from the ETA model simulated well the precipitation 
                         and synoptic pattern.",
